Seeing Jesus

April 11, 2021

Main idea: See Jesus!

Luke 24

  1. A Traveling Talk ... Interrupted (Luke 24:13-16)

  2. Two Prompting Questions (Luke 24:17-24)

  3. Opening Scripture and Eyes (Luke 24:25-35)

How do we see Jesus?

  1. Pray

  2. Read

Icebreaker

The disciples meet Jesus during a seven mile walk. What is the farthest you have ever walked?

Digging Deeper

  1. Read Luke 24:13-24. What emotions arise as you read this section? Why?
  2. If you are a Christian, how many times was the gospel presented to you, but you still didn't believe? That is, when did you not see Jesus even though you saw Jesus?
  3. Read Luke 24:25-35. Although we do not know what Scriptures Jesus referenced, what Old Testament Scriptures can you recall that point to Jesus?
  4. How do we see Christ in the Old Testament? Read aloud and discuss a few of the nine ways from this article. Don't read the entire article; just read some of the numbered items. [Note: this article focuses on preaching from the Old Testament, but the same principles apply to reading the Old Testament.]

Next Steps

  1. Why is prayer so critical in seeing Jesus?
  2. How has systematic Bible study (like this group!) helped you see Jesus in increasing measure?
