Wasting Time With Your Kids
Hello Parents and Coworkers,
Since we celebrated Father's Day last Sunday, I'd like to share a thought that I heard from Dennis Rainey of Family Life. The title is: "Wasting Time With Your Kids":
The statesman Charles Francis Adams underestimated the importance of a fishing trip he took with his son. Historians have found an entry in his diary that read. "Went fishing with my son today - a day wasted."
His son's diary reveals a different perspective. His son wrote, "Went fishing with my father - the most wonderful day of my life."
Isn't it interesting how a little boy's perspective can be so different from his dad's?
One final thought. Why don't you take some time out of your busy schedule to get alone with your child. Spend a day with an activity or two that you enjoy together. If you're tempted to think of it was a day wasted, remember: it may be the most wonderful day of your child's life.
Last Week (June 20)
Sunday Theme Ruth 1 tells the story of Ruth faithfully staying with Naomi and returning to Israel, although she had the option to stay with her birth family. This is a great example of showing love to others. This Week (June 27)
Sunday Theme Ruth 2-4 tells the story of Ruth marrying Boaz and therefore becoming an ancestor of David and even Jesus Christ, even though she was not born as an Israelite. This story shows that God can control the outcomes of our lives for His purposes. Children's Ministry Library The Summer Reading Program began last Sunday, and several children came to borrow some great books. Parents, please encourage your children to read the books they borrowed, and bring them back this Sunday so that more people can check them out. Looking Ahead- July 4: Sunday School will be canceled for all children. However, the nursery will be open for children Age 2 and younger. All other children are welcome to sit with their parents in the sanctuary.
- August 15: Faithweaver Curriculum Training from 2:30-4:30.
- September 19: Mandatory parent lunch meeting.
